As we approach the two-year mark since Elsa underwent treatment for her brain tumor at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA, I felt compelled to express our profound gratitude to the incredible team who saved her life. In appreciation, I conceptualized the "Fist Bump" shirt, symbolizing the special bond shared between Elsa and me—a bond that resonates with many. Opting to support animals over people, we aim to raise funds and awareness for the compassionate hearts at Angell.

At the outset of 2022, Elsa's condition was dire; she could barely move and her health was deteriorating rapidly, but we still didn't have a reason why after years of testing and seeing different vets.

Finally we were advised to get a CT scan which revealed a bleeding brain tumor and she quickly embarked on a grueling radiation therapy journey. To facilitate her treatment, a vascular access port (VAP) was implanted beneath her skin, providing easier IV access throughout her treatment. Amidst the chaos, she was also diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease, a consequence of the tumor, necessitating lifelong management.

Despite the challenges, the oncologists and staff remained steadfast in their optimism, believing that radiation could restore much of Elsa's vitality and grant her a better quality of life. They were always honest and compassionate about what this treatment would entail and did not offer any false hope. While Elsa was in bad shape due to a late diagnosis she was also in very capable hands.

Two years later, Elsa is thriving, though the ordeal may have aged her considerably. Yet, glimpses of her youthful energy still emerge from time to time, a testament to her resilience. Our family owes an immeasurable debt of gratitude to Angell—they not only saved Elsa's life but also instilled in us a profound sense of appreciation.
